Baby Shower Planning... I WANNA DO IT!

Just like Blood...it's in me to give!

I was a Wedding Planner for 8 years of my 27 years of existence and when it comes to parties I must get in there and plan if not steal the entire show and plan it myself. Call it too much creativ-ness in this wee little brain or a control issue - either which status I'll gladly take!

While coming close to Sofia's arrival I am starting to give a great deal of thought to the Shower. From the Guest List, to the Invites, to the Food and of course the Theme.... Very untraditional I have decided that I will plan my Baby Shower - it will be hosted at Nana's House however in regards to what is happening when and where - that will be all me! I enjoy so much in planning parties that the thought of letting go of planning the FIRST PARTY for my Baby Girl just about throws me into a coma.

Most will think that I will go ahead and do an Alice in Wonderland style Event as Tea, AIW and Me really go hand in hand {as you can see here for my Un-Birthday last year} however to me, been there, done that! I won't go as far as eliminating the sipping of Tea, as this would just be silly - but I will go with a different theme that includes the hot beverage we have all grown to love. Thanks to "the hostess with the mostess" I have taken inspiration from their Farmhouse Brunch and made it more of an Enchanted Forest Tea Party Brunch.

With taking inspiration from all the food they have served at the Event I will be serving French Toast stuffed with Cream Cheese, Yogurt & Granola Bar, Bacon Stewers, Scones with Jam & Cream, Fresh Fruit, Apple Juice, Orange Juice, Champagne, Milk and of course TEA.

Next on the list to plan will be Stationary {which is my absolute favorite part} and any games that we will play and of course the favors. "Oh the Fun...in planning my Baby Shower"...I know this goes against any rule in the book - but you know what, I've never lived by any rules to date, why start now? I urge women out there to do something out of the box, don't follow the rules or traditions ...do what you heart tells you to! Tell me? Any women out there plan their own Baby Shower?

It's not very nice to dance inside Mama's Tummy!

I was envious of those who started to feel kicking earlier than I, and now I wish I could take it back. Little Sofia is busting a move in there because not only is she kicking but she is grooving. I blame it on too much "Dancing with the Stars" and "American Idol" with all these reality shows we are turning her into a little DIVA!

I started feeling kicks at about week 20/21 and was so overjoyed. So sweet, so soft just wee little flutters and jolts. However now, the kicks have turned into squirms and summer-saults that really feel like something that should be out of a horror film. Anyone else get this? I assume its because she is making herself cozy in there, re-positioning so that she can get the most comfy real estate I have to offer in there.

The first time I felt this was about a week ago and I was making my plate for dinner. My husband had just sat down himself at the table and Sofia started to dance in which almost felt like some sorta Jello-Like Pool inside my tummy. It was all done in slow motion {you know just to creep me out over a longer stretch of time}, I looked at my husband with what was almost like a silent terror look and I froze.

Me: "Sam, this is beyond creepy, she is moving and I just don't like it - Oh Gawd, she is doing a re-position or something, its weird - it feels not good - this is not fun!"

and to what was my husbands response:

Sammy: "DAMN-IT....I WISH I WAS PREGNANT - I WANNA FEEL THIS CREEPY-NESS" as he stomps his fist on the couch with a grin larger than life!

I have to say, I'm getting used to the dancing, I wouldn't say I love it just yet - as it still seems to take me back a little every time she re-locates. But I'm getting close to not stopping in my tracts when it happens. Any other first-time Mama's out there feel this way when your wee one decided to change their comfy quarter to someplace new?

Victoria Beckham's PINK Baby Shower

After having 3 Baby Showers filled with Toy Trucks & Soccer Balls  - Victoria's only demand for her Baby Shower, which was over the weekend, was "Make Everything PINK" - and I don't blame her. The Baby Shower was hosted by her longtime friend Eva Longoria and Hairstylist Ken Paves.

Victoria, who is due in July, wore a Purple Frock while being dodded on by A-List friends such as Nicole Richie, Selma Blair and Demi Moore.

I was so happy to hear her Baby Shower was said to have an English Garden Tea Party Theme, it was held at the private rooftop Butterfly Bar atop West Hollywood's Hotel Le Petit Ermitage. The color scheme for the bash was pink, with pink tablecloths, round tables and pink blossoms with white sun umbrellas. With having the theme English Garden Party, the guests enjoyed a Princess cake with marzipan.

You could only image that the gifts Miss Beckham received were those adorned with Glitz, Glam and of course were all shades of PINK. A Quinny Buzz Special Edition Stroller in pink, a MamaRoo Baby Swing,  A Hoppop Bath Tub in pink, A Little Giraffe Luxe Blanket, A Timi and Leslie Diaper Bag and a 5 foot custom-made Giraffe by Melissa and Doug.

I don;t know about you ladies by today I plan on researching ALL of the above. HEY! If they are good enough for Baby Beckham they are good enough for my baby... of course that is if I can afford the price tag. Only the best for my baby girl Sofia!

Any of you ladies having a Baby Girl...and if so are you asking for everything to be PINK?

Pregnancy Spa Time - YES PLEASE!

If you ladies have the coverage by your Medical, I highly recommend taking full advantage. Most medical carriers cover Registered Massage Therapy, if not 100% than a great portion of it...and let me tell you if you don't take advantage of this, your going to be very very upset you neglected yourself the luxurious pampering.

I found a RMT at a local spa that I just love, Spa Utopia. They had Massages for pre-pregnancy, 1st, 2nd, and 3rd Trimester even Post Partum. Each massage specializing exactly what your body needs to be eased into relaxation helping you cope with every stage as you go through it.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
{Spa Utopia in Vancouver, British Columbia}

Pre-Pregnancy

Our therapists will work with you to develop a treatment to improve the strength, flexibility and stability of trouble areas as your body prepares for pregnancy.

First Trimester
This treatment helps manage muscular tension as your bodyadjusts to pregnancy. In addition to massage and breathing techniques, gentle exercises are recommended to strengthen and stabilize your lower back and abdominal core.

Second Trimester
Expanding abdominals, growing breasts, and postural changes place increasing stress on your back, legs and shoulders. These massage therapy sessions are designed to reduce aches and pains, while specific recommended exercises stabilize your body.

Third Trimester
During this trimester, treatments are focused on reducing muscular and joint discomfort. As your delivery date gets closer, relaxation becomes the priority. Both you and your baby will love it!

Post Partum
This session is both relaxing and therapeutic. Specific massage techniques are used to help your muscles and joints make a quick recovery. We also begin treating scars, such as those from a caesarean section. Pamper yourself as you mother your baby.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I have gone to my first massage, which was during my Second Trimester however have waited until now to post about it for the simple fact that I wanted to see how my body reacted AND how the Medical Company treated my submission. I know that some plans have a lot of fine print and I wanted to be sure that I could in fact "preach" about how fabulous it is without you ladies running into any problems.

I booked my first appointment at Spa Utopia for a 50 Minute Second Trimester Massage which couldn't have been more luxurious and needed. My lower back and shoulder blades had been aching for the past 3 weeks and my husbands rubs just were not cutting it anymore. Bless his heart!

The entire process of the Massage was almost better than a regular Massage only because the RMT took such care in making sure myself and baby were just perfectly comfortable and that we were getting the most out of her amazing hands. She asked me a few times through out the Massage how I was feeling, the pressure and if I was comfortable, I couldn't have been more perfect!

I have gone ahead and booked already for my Third Trimester Massage and literally am counting down the days until I see her warm hands again.

I have read up quite a bit on how good a massage can be for a pregnant women and I want to make sure I share the point I found most interesting to you. Hoping that you will either take advantage of your Benefits with Medical Coverage or that you will at least treat yourself to a few through out the 9 months. They are more than worth the money!

* Helps the body eliminate waste products through the lymphatic and circulatory systems thereby reducing fatigue increasing energy
* Relieves the normal discomforts of pregnancy—backache, leg cramps, headaches and edema {swelling}
* Increase circulation which brings more oxygen and nutrients to cells {thereby reducing varicose veins} and to your baby’s cells providing your baby with better nourishment
* Soothes and relaxes nervous tension which helps you to sleep better
* Increases oxygen in the blood, sometimes on up to 10-15% after a massage.
* Helps increase blood circulation, which in turn delivers more oxygen and nutrients to the mother and baby.

Please note ladies you should also check with the Spa or RMT that they are Registered in not only Massages but in Pregnancy Massages. This is very important!

Have any other Women out there taken advantage of either their covered Medical Plans on RMT or just treated themselves and baby to a day of pampering? What were your thoughts?

Loved by Heidi Klum Jeans Review

Buying Maternity Clothing I thought would be easy-peasy for me. I would go to the regular stores I shopped at pre-baby bump and just buy a size or two larger. This idea of mine was very short lived at my trip across the boarder this weekend when I waddled my butt over to Charlotte Russe, my all-time favorite clothing store. After trying on at least everything in the store once, I came to the conclusion not only can I not shop the way I used to {must have water and a stool for resting purposes between trying on t-shirt 50 and 51} but the clothes just don't fit the same. I need more length and more cotton!

Fabrics just don't feel as comfy unless they are soft and cozy these days and they sure as heck don't make things long enough to cover a baby belly. Trying to lift my spirits I headed over to accessories to see what I could find and did a decent enough job picking myself back up with a few Bow Rings and Earing made of feather. However I still wasn't going to leave Bellisfair Mall without any Maternity Gear. I don't think I could last another week rotating between the same 3 pairs of pants...I JUST WON'T DO IT!

I decided to give in and hit Motherhood Maternity. What is the worst that could happen...right?

I found the brand "Loved" by Heidi Klum and I thought I would give it a try considering they were fairly trendy looking. On sale for $29, I was even happier to see - after trying them on with success and not at a randomly large size, I was happy.

The pair of Pants I purchased were in a Ash Grey, with distressing around the thighs, shins and bum, however I couldn't find a picture online for them. They pants I purchased were the same as pictured just in Navy Blue,  they are the same shape {Skinny} and material content.

Since this was my first purchase for Maternity Pants I didn't know what I would really like, under-belly or over-belly waist band. So why not buy one of both and have some fun testing. What I have come to deciding is I like the over-belly far better for the simple fact that "plumbers crack" even while your pregnant is still far from sexy.

The Jeans are beyond cute, uber comfortable and more affordable than I had anticipate with Heidi Klums name plastered all over them - my only complaint would be that they are not made available in an over-belly waist band and therefore you would have to love either showing some crack or hire someone to do the following for you:
1) tie your shoes
2) put on your socks
3) pick up anything you have fumbled and dropped {which happens a lot I find during pregnancy}
4) reaching anything at bottom shelves
5) pick up any "lucky pennies" you see on the ground

I have not purchased anything else from the "Loved" line, for the simple fact that I didn't see anything that I....I.... well.... loved. However now going on the Motherhood site I see many things that I wished that I could try on, but were not available for me during my visit.

The "Loved" Line of Clothing by Heidi Klum gets a "Mommy Award" for its Trendy Designs and Affordable Pricing. If anyone is out there looking for some affordable clothing while they are pregnant, I highly recommend the the Loved Line. However I have learnt that not all style {under-belly and over-belly waist bands} are meant and loved by all - so my suggestion is make sure you either try them on, or buy them on sale!
